Pan-EU Youth: Youth media explodes on to scene

Join the ranks of youth who are blogging about policies that affect you!

There is a notable gap in consulting stakeholders when it comes to making policies in Europe. Public consultations involving youth in policies that affect them is still in its early stages, which is why Pan-EU Youth has been set up to give young people a say on their future.

Pan EU YouthTo make this a reality, European Schoolnet teamed up with French media company Vivendi to create an online platform to enable young people to air their views on topics that concern them. These include youth in the media, online social platforms and e-skills, among many others.

Pan-EU Youth has as its main mission to make European youth full stakeholders in the EU policy-making process. It also wants to highlight the responsible use of online platforms and make young people fully aware of the implications of having a presence on the internet. In this sense, it is also an educational tool that can be used to foster good practices which can be shared among young people.

Pan EU YouthIt is a project that will help promote intercultural dialogue, break down language barriers and bring about a spirit of mutual respect and understanding. Youths will be able to discuss three themes: young people in the media, digital lives, and e-skills through various mediums including blogs, voting in polls, uploading their own videos and debating the themes on online forums.

The project is eager to expand the platform and is encouraging its use as an educational aide by teachers in computer, social studies, language and ethics classes. It is currently available in English, French and German, but can be extended to other languages depending on demand.
